Xiaomi has officially announced that HyperOS 3 will launch on August 28, 2025. The company says this update will make phones and tablets work faster, feel smoother, and look better. It will be based on Android 16, the latest version of Google’s operating system.
At first, people thought Xiaomi would bring HyperOS 3 with the upcoming Xiaomi 16 series phones. But the company has surprised everyone by launching it earlier. Instead, the update will arrive first on the Xiaomi 15 series and some high-end Redmi K80 models, along with two tablets.
This shows that Xiaomi wants to give users faster updates than before. Last year, HyperOS 2 came out in October 2024 with the Xiaomi 15 series, so this release is happening sooner.
Xiaomi is promoting HyperOS 3 with the line “Everything Goes Smoothly.” This means the main focus of the update will be smoother app switching, better animations, and simple navigation. While the company has not explained all the new features yet, experts believe the update will also include design changes, performance improvements, and smarter AI tools.
The company has already started the beta testing programme. This allows users with eligible devices to sign up, test the new version early, and share feedback. The registration is available on the Xiaomi Community website. After signing up, users will receive updates earlier than the stable release for all.
These are the devices that will get HyperOS 3 first. The smartphones are Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Xiaomi 15S Pro, Xiaomi 15 Pro, Xiaomi 15, Redmi K80 Pro, and Redmi K80 Extreme Edition. The two tablets are Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro (12.5-inch) and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro.
Although Xiaomi has not shared the full details yet, HyperOS 3 is expected to make the system faster, improve design, and connect phones and tablets more smoothly. It may also bring more AI-powered features to personalize the experience for users.
The early release clearly shows Xiaomi’s push to compete with brands like Samsung and Oppo, which are also working on Android 16 updates. By bringing the software first to its current flagship phones and tablets, Xiaomi is giving early adopters a chance to enjoy the update before the Xiaomi 16 series is released later this year.
