Samsung has launched its new budget 5G phone, the Galaxy A17 5G, in the United Kingdom. The phone was first shown earlier this month and is now available to buy through Samsung’s official UK website and Amazon.
The Galaxy A17 5G is being sold in three colors – black, blue, and grey. It comes in two storage options. The first version has 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage and is priced at £179.00, which was earlier listed at £199. The second version has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and is priced at £271.98. Both versions also support a microSD card, letting users expand storage by up to 2TB.
The Galaxy A17 5G uses Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chip and comes with Android 15 along with One UI 7. On the front, there is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. A 13MP selfie camera is placed inside a small notch at the top of the screen.
On the back, the Galaxy A17 5G has three cameras. The rear setup includes a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens for close-up photos. The phone also has a 5,000mAh battery, which supports up to 25W fast charging through USB-C, making it suitable for long hours of usage.
For security, it has a fingerprint scanner mounted on the side. The phone is rated IP54, which means it is resistant to dust and minor water splashes. Users who need more storage will find the microSD support useful, as it goes up to 2TB of added space.
By offering an AMOLED display with smooth 90Hz refresh, a large battery, expandable storage, and the latest software, Samsung is clearly targeting people who want an affordable but reliable 5G phone. At the starting price of £179, the Galaxy A17 5G competes with several other budget 5G phones from brands like Xiaomi, Realme, and Motorola.
The Galaxy A17 5G is now on sale in the UK, giving buyers a new low-cost choice in the 5G phone market while still providing good display quality, modern cameras, and software support.
