Google NotebookLM Launches Four New Audio Overview Formats Including Debate and Critique

Google has made its NotebookLM tool even better. Now users can listen to their notes and sources in four new ways. NotebookLM is a smart assistant that helps you understand and share information from your files. It has added three new styles to its Audio Overviews: Brief, Critique, and Debate.

Along with the original Deep Dive, this gives users more options to learn in the way they like best.

The original Deep Dive style has two AI hosts talking deeply about your chosen topic. The Brief format is a short, quick summary by one AI voice to help you grasp the main points fast. The Critique option gives a single AI host who reviews your content and gives helpful feedback.

This is useful for things like essays or research projects. The Debate style features two AI hosts who argue different sides of a topic. It helps users understand varied viewpoints clearly.

All these formats come with fresh AI voices. Brief and Critique rely on a single voice, whereas Deep Dive and Debate make use of two voices. The sounds are made to feel natural and easy to listen to. The audio is available in more than 80 languages for you to choose from. Plus, users can pick how long the audio should be and even download it for later listening.

To use these new features, you simply click a small pencil icon in NotebookLM’s Audio Overview section. Then you can select any format and set your preferences. This update is for everyone around the world, making the tool more useful for students, professionals, and curious minds alike.

Google is also expanding its related Video Overviews feature, now available in 80 languages, where users get narrated slides to help see key information visually. This makes NotebookLM a powerful tool for studying, research, and work.

This update shows how Google keeps improving NotebookLM to help people learn and understand their notes better. It turns complex information into easy-to-follow conversations or summaries that anyone can listen to anytime. The new audio styles add flexibility, letting users find the best way to learn from their uploaded sources.

The new audio features of NotebookLM are rolling out now globally, providing richer experiences for exploring information and ideas with AI help.

This step helps Google’s NotebookLM stand out as a smart and simple assistant for handling big amounts of data in a friendly, easy way. It is perfect for anyone who wants to save time and get more from their notes by hearing them in different voices and styles.
