India Edges England by 6 Runs at The Oval, Levels Series 2-2 in Thrilling Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Final Test

India won a very exciting Test match against England by just six runs at The Oval, tying the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series 2-2.This win is India’s closest victory by runs ever in Test cricket history and ended the series on a high note.

England was chasing 374 runs to win on the last day. Two of their players, Joe Root and Harry Brook, played very well and added 195 runs together. England was 339 for 6 wickets with 35 runs needed and four wickets left. But the Indian bowlers fought hard and changed the game.

Mohammed Siraj was the best bowler for India, taking five wickets in this innings, including the very last and important one. Prasidh Krishna also helped a lot by taking four important wickets. England’s last hope was Gus Atkinson. 

Even though he was hurt with a dislocated shoulder, he came out to bat but was bowled out by Siraj just when England needed 7 runs to win. England ended up scoring 367, falling short by 6 runs.

India posted a total of 224 runs in their first innings. England replied with 247 runs and had a small lead. In their second innings, India scored 396 runs, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a century. This set a tough target for England to chase.

Jasprit Bumrah, India’s main fast bowler, played only three matches in the series and took 14 wickets. He missed the final match to manage his fitness.

Washington Sundar was recognized as the standout performer for India in the series. He scored 284 runs, including an important unbeaten 101 at Old Trafford, and also took seven wickets in four matches.

The series was very close. England won the matches at Leeds and Lord’s. India won at Birmingham and The Oval. The match at Manchester ended in a draw. Each game showed lots of skill, patience, and hard work from both teams.

This final Test and the whole series showed how exciting and unpredictable Test cricket can be. Both teams fought hard and gave great performances. India’s six-run win at The Oval showed their strong teamwork and never-give-up spirit. It was one of the most thrilling finishes in recent cricket history.
