Lionel Messi Injured in Inter Miami’s Win; Recovery Update Ahead of Pumas UNAM Match

Lionel Messi got injured early in Inter Miami’s big game against Club Necaxa on August 2, 2025. The famous Argentine player hurt his right hamstring in the eighth minute.

Two defenders from Necaxa challenged him near the penalty area. Because of this injury, Messi had to leave the game in the 11th minute.

Even though Messi was hurt, he did not seem to be in much pain. He walked off the field on his own and sat on the bench. Inter Miami’s coach, Javier Mascherano, said Messi felt a "pull" in his hamstring but no sharp pain. The team will do more tests on him the day after the game to find out how serious the injury is.

Inter Miami’s next game is against Pumas UNAM on August 7, just four days away. If Messi’s injury is mild, called a Grade 1 strain, he could get better in less than a week.

Messi has access to good medical care. But if the injury is more serious, called Grade 2 or 3, it might take weeks or months for him to heal.

In the match against Necaxa, even though Messi left early and both teams had only ten players after red cards, Inter Miami won in a penalty shootout. The game ended 2-2 before penalties, and Miami won 5-4.

This injury worries Inter Miami. Messi has been very important this season. He has scored many goals and helped the team win.

To sum up, Messi has a right hamstring injury but did not need help leaving the field. His full condition will be known after medical checks. Fans are waiting to see if he can play in the next game against Pumas UNAM.
