India and Sri Lanka will share hosting duties for the tournament, with games scheduled in five cities Bengaluru, Guwahati, Indore, and Visakhapatnam in India, along with Colombo in Sri Lanka. Fans from both countries are excited to see some of the world’s best players in action.

The tournament will begin on September 30 in Bengaluru, where India will go up against Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This stadium will also host one semi-final and could host the final if Pakistan does not qualify.

If Pakistan reaches the final, the championship match will be played in Colombo instead. At first, there were doubts about Bengaluru getting matches due to permission issues, but now it’s confirmed as one of the key venues.

Eight teams will fight for the title India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. These teams qualified through ICC tournaments and qualifiers. Australia, the defending title holders, will start their World Cup run against New Zealand on October 1 in Indore. Just a few days later, the much-awaited India–Pakistan clash is scheduled for October 5 in Colombo.

In the group stage, every team will play against all the others once. The top four teams after this stage will move to the semi-finals on October 29 and 30, and the final will be held on November 2.

India’s women’s cricket team has never won the World Cup, but they have been close several times. India finished as runners-up in 2005 and 2017, took third place in 2009, ended seventh in 2013, and placed fifth in 2022.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur said the team will give their all this year, especially playing at home. She also remembered her famous 171 runs against Australia in the 2017 semi-final and the amazing support from fans even after losing the final to England.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said this World Cup is a big chance to make women’s cricket more popular worldwide. He also said that listening to players and bringing fresh ideas will help the sport grow faster.

Before the main tournament, nine warm-up games will be held from September 25 to 28 in Bengaluru and Colombo. These matches will help the teams prepare and give fans an early look at the action.

Big matches to watch include the opening game between India and Sri Lanka, the India–Pakistan clash, and other exciting group-stage contests in Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, and Indore.
