Honor is getting ready to bring its new smartphone lineup, the Honor 500 series, later this year. The new lineup is set to succeed the Honor 400 series, which debuted in May 2025.
According to a well-known tipster on Chinese social media, the company may release two phones under this lineup the Honor 500 and the Honor 500 Pro. The launch is expected to happen before the end of 2025, although Honor has not confirmed anything officially yet.
The leaks suggest that both phones will continue to feature a 200-megapixel main rear camera, which was also seen on the Honor 400 series. This time, however, the design of the rear camera module is said to be slimmer, giving the phones a cleaner and lighter look.
The regular Honor 500 is expected to carry a 6.5-inch display, while the Honor 500 Pro may feature a slightly larger screen along with some extra premium features and better performance.
Reports suggest that Honor is also working on another lineup called the Honor GT 2 series, expected to launch around the same time. These phones are likely to come with a big 6.83-inch display, stronger performance, and a battery with bigger capacity. This suggests that Honor is focusing not only on design but also on providing users more power and battery life.
To understand what kind of upgrades we can expect with the Honor 500 series, let us look at the Honor 400 lineup for comparison. The Honor 400 came with a 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen that supported 120Hz refresh rate. It delivered very high brightness levels of up to 5,000 nits and offered clear visuals with 460 pixels per inch.
The phone was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The phone featured a dual rear camera system with a 200‑megapixel main lens and packed a 5,300mAh battery supporting 66W wired charging.
The Honor 400 Pro was an even more powerful device. It sported a larger 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate but also offered support for the DCI-P3 wide color gamut, making the colors pop more vividly. The phone was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and also supported up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
On the rear, it featured a triple-camera setup led by a 200‑megapixel main sensor. The battery size stayed at 5,300mAh, but the Pro model supported quicker charging with 100W wired and 50W wireless options.
These features made the Honor 400 lineup a strong competitor in the premium mid-range segment. But with the Honor 500 series, the company is expected to refine the design and bring some improvements in performance and imaging features while maintaining the strengths of its predecessor.
If these reports are accurate, the Honor 500 phones could become very strong options for people shopping in this price category by the end of 2025.
The smartphone market is crowded at the moment with launches lined up from several big brands. Samsung is getting ready to launch its Galaxy F17 5G and Galaxy M17 5G, recently seen on benchmark listings. Oppo is planning to add new devices by rebranding some of its F‑series phones and also preparing for the launch of the Find X9 Pro. Meanwhile, iQOO is working on a new phone that could feature an unusually large 7,000mAh battery.
Meanwhile, all eyes are also on Apple, which is scheduled to announce the iPhone 17 series on September 9 at its major “Awe Dropping” launch event. With new phones from Apple, Samsung, Oppo, iQOO, and Honor arriving around the same time, competition in the market is going to get even tougher.
Although Honor has not made anything official yet, the leaks suggest that the Honor 500 and Honor 500 Pro may arrive before the year ends, joined by the Honor GT 2 series. With slimmer design, huge 200-megapixel cameras, and possible performance upgrades, the upcoming phones are expected to give tough competition in the global smartphone market
