The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is bringing major changes to its Centre of Excellence (CoE) located in Bengaluru.
Many key staff members are leaving, and the BCCI is now looking for new people to fill important coaching and support jobs.
The CoE started earlier this year and used to be called the National Cricket Academy. It helps train India’s best cricket players. One key change is that Troy Cooley, the bowling coach from Australia, has finished his contract. He joined in 2021 and worked to make India’s fast bowlers better. A possible new bowling coach could be VRV Singh, a former Indian fast bowler who worked with Cooley before.
Other staff members leaving include Nitin Patel, the head of the medical team. He quit in March after working three years. Spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule also left to join the Rajasthan Royals IPL team. Coach Sitanshu Kotak moved to a full-time job with the Indian national cricket team.
VVS Laxman, who is a former Indian cricketer and currently leads the CoE, will probably step down from his role by the end of 2025. He likely won’t ask to continue, but he might stay until the 2027 ODI World Cup if asked.
The BCCI is now inviting applications for three main jobs: batting coach, bowling coach, and head of sports science and medicine. To apply for batting and bowling coach jobs, candidates must have played first-class or international cricket and hold a BCCI Level-2 or Level-3 coaching certificate.
They also need at least five years of coaching experience at state or top youth levels. Candidates should also know how to use software to help with training and analysis.
For the head of sports science and medicine job, candidates should have a master’s degree in sports science or a related field. A doctorate degree is preferred. They also need at least five years of experience leading teams that look after player fitness and performance.
Applications must be sent by August 20, 2025.
This staff change is part of BCCI’s plan to keep Indian cricket strong and improve player training and support. The changes will help to use modern science and new ideas in coaching. This transition is important to keep India’s cricket teams strong in all competitions.
In short, the CoE in Bengaluru is starting a new phase with fresh leaders and new ideas to help players grow and improve cricket in India.
