The company shared that Xstream Fiber grew by more than 50 percent compared to last year in the number of homes it connects. Its fibre network is now longer than 5,00,000 kilometers. This means Airtel is reaching more neighborhoods and towns fast.
Airtel also pointed out that many homes in India are becoming "connected homes" where people use smart TVs, streaming devices, smart appliances, and several Wi-Fi devices. The company believes the total number of these connected homes will grow from around 50 million now to about 100 million in the medium term. This growth will double the need for good home internet and entertainment services that come together.

To meet this growing need, Airtel plans to speed up its fibre network expansion, not just in big cities but also in smaller towns and new neighborhoods. Airtel says the broadband market is in a "land-grab" phase, where providers compete to add more homes and customers. This race is important because soon users will care more about apps for smart TVs and combined streaming content.
Xstream Fiber started as Airtel’s fibre-to-the-home service, mainly in big cities and important areas. Over time, it has expanded and is now available in many towns and cities. This wider reach allows Airtel to offer internet plans with more capacity. These plans support things like watching 4K videos, working from home, studying online, and using many gadgets at the same time.

Airtel also offers products like the Xstream Box, Xstream Smart TVs, and the Xstream app. Many of these products use Google TV and bring live TV and many streaming apps into one place, so users don’t have to switch between different apps. The goal is to make it easy to find shows and movies.
In 2025, Airtel started offering special entertainment packs for prepaid users. These packs bundle access to many popular streaming services all at once, showing that Airtel wants to offer more than just fast internet. They want to give customers a full entertainment experience at home.
The telecom and broadband market is also changing. Experts think that new technologies like fixed wireless access and faster 5G internet at home will grow in the coming years. That’s why companies like Airtel are rushing to get more fibre customers now. They want to keep customers by offering not just internet but also streaming services and smart devices together.
For customers, this means more choices like faster wired internet in more places, easy bundles with internet and streaming, and devices to turn regular TVs into smart TVs. For Airtel, getting more homes connected and growing their fibre network is part of a plan to turn broadband users into customers who stay longer for many home services.
