14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Urged to Join India Senior Team Like Sachin

Rajasthan Royals’ Director of High Performance, Zubin Bharucha, has requested the BCCI to promote young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi into the senior Indian cricket team. The 14-year-old has impressed everyone with his incredible performances since making his IPL debut earlier this year. Bharucha compared his talent to that of Sachin Tendulkar, who also began his international journey as a teenager.

Vaibhav became a well-known name after his explosive batting in the IPL, where he scored the fastest century by an Indian in the tournament’s history, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls. His fearless style and natural timing have drawn praise from players, coaches, and fans alike.

In a recent interview, Bharucha said that Vaibhav should be “blooded into the senior team immediately,” just like Sachin Tendulkar was many years ago. He added that the selectors should send him on an India A tour as soon as possible to give him valuable experience. Bharucha mentioned that Vaibhav’s extraordinary batting skills make him ready to face tough international bowlers.

“He should be brought into the senior team right now, like Sachin was. They must give this boy a chance immediately because he is playing on another level. At least send him to the India A team. I’m sure he would score a double century against the Australian attack,” Bharucha told the Times of India.

Bharucha also shared an interesting story about how Vaibhav handled England pacer Jofra Archer in the nets during practice. Archer is known for his fierce bowling and rarely bowls an easy delivery, even in practice sessions. Bharucha recalled that Archer once gave Steve Smith a tough time in the nets before the Ashes series, to the point that Smith avoided facing him afterward.

However, when Archer bowled to Vaibhav, the young player showed no fear. Bharucha said Vaibhav hit a powerful back-foot shot that went out of the stadium, leaving everyone, including Archer, completely stunned. The moment highlighted the young prodigy’s rare confidence and skill at such a young age.

Recently, Vaibhav added another record to his growing list of achievements. He scored a brilliant 78-ball century against Australia U19, becoming the fourth-fastest player to hit a Youth Test hundred. With this knock, he also joined former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum as the only players to hit two U19 Test centuries in under 100 balls.

At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to capture attention with his extraordinary performances. Many now believe that India could be witnessing the rise of its next cricketing superstar.
