Samsung is getting ready to bring two new budget-friendly 5G smartphones to the market. The phones are called the Samsung Galaxy F17 5G and the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G.
Both models were recently seen on Geekbench and the Google Play Console, which usually means the launch is very close. Reports suggest that these phones will be rebranded versions of the Galaxy A17 5G, which Samsung introduced earlier this year in some countries.
The phones are expected to run on Samsung’s own Exynos 1330 processor. This chip is built on a 5nm process and is paired with up to 8GB of RAM. On Geekbench, the Galaxy F17 5G scored 975 points in single-core tests and 2,242 points in multi-core tests.
The Galaxy M17 5G managed 762 points in the single-core test and 1,596 points in the multi-core test, which is slightly lower than the F17 5G. Both phones will come with Android 15 out of the box, along with Samsung’s latest One UI 7 interface.
In terms of display, both models will likely have a 6.7-inch full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The design is expected to follow Samsung’s Infinity-U style, which means the front camera will sit inside a small U-shaped cutout at the top of the screen. These display features are normally seen in higher-priced phones but Samsung is bringing them to its budget-friendly range.
The cameras are expected to be the same as the Galaxy A17 5G. This means a 50-megapixel dual camera setup on the back and a 13-megapixel selfie camera on the front. The phones may also come with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. This should give users a full day of use on a single charge.
Other features that might come with the phones include an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance. They may also offer a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for easy unlocking. These features are aimed at making the phones more reliable and practical for everyday use.
Just like other Galaxy M and F series phones, these two models are expected to follow Samsung’s online-first strategy. The Galaxy F17 5G is expected to be available through Flipkart and Samsung’s online store, whereas the Galaxy M17 5G may launch on Amazon and Samsung’s official website. This helps Samsung target a wider audience through different platforms.
Samsung has not revealed the official launch date yet. However, since the phones have already been listed on certification and benchmarking sites, they are likely to launch very soon.
Industry experts believe Samsung may release them in September, just in time for the upcoming festive season in India. This will also help Samsung compete with rivals like Xiaomi, Realme, and Vivo, who are also preparing to launch new devices in the coming weeks.
In summary, the Galaxy F17 5G and Galaxy M17 5G are expected to come with a large AMOLED display, efficient performance from the Exynos 1330, Android 15 with One UI 7, solid cameras, and long battery life. They will sit in Samsung’s mid-range lineup as affordable 5G phones. With the festive shopping season soon approaching, Samsung seems ready to strengthen its position in the budget 5G segment.
