This was Jaiswal’s seventh Test century and the fifth time he converted a hundred into a 150-plus score. With this, the 23-year-old broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most 150+ scores by an Indian at his age. Across the world, only the great Don Bradman has more such scores — eight before turning 24.
After the day’s play, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar praised Jaiswal with a humorous remark. He told the youngster, “Keep scoring daddy hundreds,” and then added with a smile, “But because I’m a grandfather, I’ll call it a granddaddy hundred.”
Jaiswal’s innings ended in an unfortunate way on Day 2 when he was run out after adding just two more runs. A mix-up with Shubman Gill led to his dismissal, leaving both players visibly disappointed.
Another stellar performance ✨

Speaking after the match, Jaiswal said he always tries to bat as long as possible for his team.
“If I’m there, I just want to take the game forward. Getting run out is part of the game, so it’s fine,” he said.
He added that he was focused on staying in and playing for the team’s goals.
“There was a bit of movement early on, but once I settled in, it became easier to score. The pitch is still good, and we’re bowling well. Hopefully, we can get them out quickly,” Jaiswal added.
India declared their innings at 518 for 5 on Saturday. In reply, West Indies were 140 for 4 at stumps, still far behind India’s total.
