Jayden Seales, a fast bowler from the West Indies, was fined 25% of his match fee during the second Test against India in Delhi. The fine was imposed because he broke the rules of the ICC Code of Conduct. The incident happened on the first day of the match, in the 29th over of India’s first innings.

Seales was charged with Article 2.9 of the ICC Code, which concerns throwing the ball or any cricket equipment at or near a player in a dangerous or inappropriate way during an international game. During the match, Seales fielded the ball on his follow-through and then threw it at Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, hitting him on the pads.
Seales argued that he was trying to run out the batter, but the match referee reviewed replay videos from different angles. They decided that his throw was unnecessary and inappropriate because the batter was within his crease when hit. As a result, Seales was given a fine and one demerit point, raising his total demerit points to two in two years. His previous demerit point was from a game against Bangladesh in December 2024
The referee, Andy Pycroft, concluded that the throw was both unnecessary and inappropriate. Other officials involved included the on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Paul Reiffel, the third umpire Alex Wharf, and the fourth umpire K.N. Ananthapadmanabhan. Level 1 violations like this can lead to penalties such as a reprimand, a fine of up to half of his match fee, and demerit points.
The incident is part of a series where West Indies are currently trailing 1–0 in a two-match ICC World Test Championship series in India. The first match was lost by a large margin, by an innings and 140 runs.
