Yashasvi Jaiswal is emerging as one of India’s brightest cricket stars. At just 23, the left-handed batter has scored over 2200 runs in 25 Test matches. His record includes seven centuries and twelve half-centuries since his debut in the West Indies two years ago.

What makes Jaiswal special is his ability to play long innings. Out of his seven centuries, five were scores of 150 or more. Impressively, his first four hundreds were all above 150, a feat previously achieved only by Graeme Smith. His two centuries in England this year were the only ones under 150 runs.
In the recent second Test against West Indies, Jaiswal scored 175. Former India star Mohammad Kaif praised him, saying he has the patience and skill to break Sehwag’s 300-run record. Virender Sehwag’s 319 against South Africa in Chennai in 2008 remains the highest individual score by an Indian in Tests.
Kaif added, “Jaiswal’s numbers in his first 26 matches are comparable to legends like Sachin and Virat. His big hundreds often guide India to victory. Sehwag’s 300-run record? Jaiswal will break it.”
Legendary spinner Anil Kumble also lauded Jaiswal, saying, “He keeps improving every day. His hunger for big innings benefits not just him but the team. Even when he got out early previously, he made up for it here. His attitude and focus are exceptional.”
With this kind of talent and mindset, Yashasvi Jaiswal seems ready to create history in Indian cricket.
