Smriti Mandhana Rises to No. 3 in ICC T20I Rankings After Maiden Century vs England

Adding to her growing list of achievements, Smriti Mandhana has hit a new career high. Playing her 149th T20I, the Indian opener smashed her maiden century in the format  a blistering 112 off just 62 deliveries against England.

The match-winning knock not only powered India to a dominant victory but also propelled Mandhana to the No. 3 spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings, earning her a personal-best rating of 771 points.

Mandhana, who already holds the top spot in the ODI rankings for batters, leapfrogged Australia's Tahlia McGrath in the T20I charts. She now sits just three points behind West Indies captain Hayley Matthews and is within striking distance of the No. 2 position. Australia’s Beth Mooney remains at the top with 794 points.

Her blazing century came with 12 boundaries and five sixes and showed once again why she’s one of the most dependable batters in women’s cricket today. Interestingly, Mandhana revealed that her teammates were teasing her for not scoring a T20I hundred until now, which made this innings extra special.

Meanwhile, England pacer Lauren Bell also made headlines. Her impressive figures of 3/27 in the same match pushed her to No. 4 in the T20I bowling rankings. Bell’s rise has added more competition at the top, with just a few points separating her from India’s Deepti Sharma (No. 3) and Australia's Annabel Sutherland (No. 2).

Sadia Iqbal of Pakistan holds the top position with 746 points, though the competition is swiftly catching up.

After a return to the T20I setup following a nine-month break, India’s Shafali Verma has climbed a spot in the latest rankings. 13 among batters after a brief knock of 20 runs. Harleen Deol, who played her first T20I since 2023, also re-entered the rankings at joint 86th following her quickfire 43 off 23 balls.

With the second T20I between India and England just around the corner, more ranking changes are likely if players continue to perform at this level. For now, though, all eyes are on Smriti Mandhana, who’s on the brink of becoming the second-best T20I batter in the world.
