Mercedes-Benz India Posts Record Q1 FY25-26 Sales, BEVs and Luxury Drive 10% YoY Growth

Mercedes-Benz India kicked off FY 2025–26 with a strong start, achieving its highest ever sales figures for the first quarter.

The luxury carmaker sold 4,238 units between April and June 2025, reflecting a 10.08% year-on-year growth compared to the same quarter last year.

A Strong Start Despite Economic Challenges

Despite facing macroeconomic challenges like fluctuating foreign exchange rates, price hikes, and increasing competition in the entry-luxury segment, Mercedes-Benz India managed to register strong growth, especially in its Top-End Luxury and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segments.

The success comes as a result of the brand’s focused approach toward premium offerings and customer-centric personalization.

Top-End Luxury Segment Sees Major Boost

The real highlight of this quarter was the 20% growth in the Top-End Luxury category. This segment includes flagship models such as:

  • S-Class
  • Mercedes-Maybach (including the Night Series)
  • AMG range
  • EQS electric line-up

Some exclusive models like the AMG GT 63 PRO have already sold out for the rest of the year, underlining the strong demand for ultra-premium offerings.

Core Segment Still Dominates Sales

Core luxury models like the C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC, and GLE made up nearly 60% of Q1 sales, showing a 10% growth compared to the same period last year. The E-Class LWB remained the top-selling luxury vehicle in the Indian market, especially after the launch of the new E450 performance variant.

EV Sales Surge with 157% Growth

The electric portfolio of Mercedes-Benz saw phenomenal growth. The BEV segment posted a 157% year-on-year increase, accounting for 8% of total Q1 sales. Key contributors include:

  • EQS 450 SUV
  • EQS Maybach
  • G 580 with EQ Technology

The demand is so high that select EV models now have a waiting period of up to 6 months.

What the CEO Says

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, expressed pride over the achievement, saying:

“Mercedes-Benz kick-starts the fiscal year with our best-ever Q1 sales. The strong demand for top-end luxury and electric vehicles reflects the evolving preferences of Indian customers who seek exclusivity and personalization. Our focus on premium products is paying off, and we’re thrilled with the momentum, especially in our BEV line-up.”

H1 Calendar Year Sales Slightly Down

Despite a strong Q1 in FY25-26, Mercedes-Benz India’s total sales for the first half of CY2025 dipped slightly to 9,013 units, down 2.69% from 9,262 units in H1 CY2024. The dip was largely due to lower performance in Q1 CY2025.

Summary Highlights:

  1. Q1 FY25-26 sales: 4,238 units (Best-ever Q1)
  2. Top-End Luxury growth: +20% YoY
  3. Core segment contribution: 60% of total sales
  4. BEV growth: +157% YoY
  5. CEO Statement: Focus on luxury, personalization, and electrification
