After opening regularly for almost a year, Samson found himself batting lower than usual in India’s winning campaign. With vice-captain Shubman Gill back in the side, Samson mostly batted at No. 5, and on one occasion, he didn’t even feature in the top seven.

Despite the change, Samson took the situation in stride. At the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards 2025, he said he was ready to take on any role for the team.

“I think when you wear the Indian jersey, you can’t say no to anything. I’ve worked really hard to wear that jersey and be part of that dressing room. I take pride in doing my job for my country,” Samson said.

He added, “Even if you want me to bat at No. 9, maybe bowl some left-arm spin, whatever job for the country, I don’t mind.”

Samson also reflected on his decade-long journey in international cricket. He has played only 40 games in 10 years.

“Honestly, the numbers don’t tell the whole story. I’m proud of the person I am today and the challenges I’ve faced. Instead of focusing on outside noise, I’ve learned to focus on internal growth,” he said.

During the Asia Cup 2025, Samson played a few important innings. He scored 39 against Sri Lanka in the Super Four match and 24 against Pakistan in the final, providing key contributions in high-pressure moments.
