Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 104 and took 4 wickets for 54 runs. Mohammed Siraj picked up 3 for 31, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed 2 wickets, giving India a strong start in the World Test Championship.

India began the day with Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj bowling tight lines. West Indies openers Tagenarine Chanderpaul and John Campbell tried to defend but Chanderpaul pulled a short ball from Siraj, only to be caught brilliantly by Nitish Reddy diving at short square leg.

Jadeja was brought in early by Shubman Gill and struck quickly. Campbell flicked one straight to Sai Sudharsan at forward short leg. Brandon King, looking good with his drives, edged a spinning delivery to KL Rahul who took a sharp low catch. That left West Indies struggling at 34 for 3.

Kuldeep Yadav became a big problem for the batters. Dhruv Jurel encouraged him from behind the stumps, and his smart variations troubled Roston Chase. After two big-turning deliveries, Kuldeep bowled one quicker with less spin. Chase misread it and saw his off-stump knocked down. The Indian fielders were sharp, as Yashasvi Jaiswal took a superb diving catch at backward point to remove Shai Hope. At lunch, West Indies were 66 for 5.

After the break, Alick Athanaze and Justin Greaves showed some fight. Washington Sundar dismissed Athanaze when he tried to play against the spin and edged it back to the bowler. Siraj then trapped Greaves leg-before with a yorker. Just two balls later, Jomel Warrican tried to hit big but only found Shubman Gill at mid-off.

Johan Layne’s attempt to attack ended when he hit one straight to Siraj at mid-off from Jadeja’s bowling. Jayden Seales swung hard and scored 22 off 12 balls but hit one straight back to Kuldeep Yadav, ending the innings at 146.

In the first innings, West Indies had managed 162 runs. Siraj took 4 for 40, Bumrah 3 for 42, and Kuldeep 2 for 25. India’s big total came through Dhruv Jurel’s 125, KL Rahul’s 100, Jadeja’s unbeaten 104, and Shubman Gill’s 50. Roston Chase was the best bowler for West Indies with figures of 2 for 90.
