The opening game was one-sided. India bowled out West Indies in just a session and a half, scored freely with three batters hitting centuries, and wrapped up the win with two and a half days to spare.
As the series moves to Delhi, India will look to continue their strong run and collect more World Test Championship points. The team balance looks solid. Though India are slightly heavy on all-rounders, that depth gives them more options both with bat and ball.
Big changes are not expected for this match. The Delhi pitch is likely to assist spinners again. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, who both played key roles in the first Test, should feature once more. Mohammed Siraj has also been impressive and continues to share the pace workload with Jasprit Bumrah.
Kuldeep’s comeback performance earned him praise, and he looks set to stay in the playing XI. Jadeja, meanwhile, continues to prove why he’s among India’s most valuable all-rounders.
However, a few players will be under watch. Nitish Kumar Reddy, backed by Gautam Gambhir for his pace-bowling all-round abilities, faces competition from Axar Patel. If Reddy doesn’t deliver, Axar could take his place soon.
Sai Sudharsan’s position at number three also brings some pressure. The young left-hander has shown promise but hasn’t converted it into big scores yet. With Dhruv Jurel performing well and Rishabh Pant expected to return soon, Sudharsan needs a good innings to secure his spot.
India’s probable XI for the 2nd Test vs West Indies:
KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.
India’s combination looks strong enough to dominate again. The team will aim for another quick finish, while Sudharsan and Reddy focus on keeping their places safe with solid performances in Delhi.
