Marko Arnautovic was the hero of the night. He scored four goals and became Austria’s all-time top scorer. San Marino, ranked the lowest team in world football, had no chance against Austria’s strong attack. This big win was Austria’s fifth straight victory in the qualifiers and helped them stay at the top of their group.
The Netherlands also had an easy night, beating Malta 4-0. Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo scored two goals, while Manchester City’s Tijjani Reijnders added another. The Dutch players from the Premier League led their team with confidence and control.
Denmark had their own goal fest, defeating Belarus 6-0. Napoli striker Rasmus Hojlund scored twice in the first half, continuing his great form from Serie A. This result kept Denmark ahead of Scotland on goal difference. Scotland also won, beating Greece 3-1 after some close moments.
Croatia, the 2018 World Cup finalist and 2022 semifinalist, stayed on top of their group after a 0-0 draw against the Czech Republic. Even though they didn’t score, Croatia’s defense stayed solid, helping them keep control of the group standings.
In a friendly match, England easily defeated Wales 3-0 even without their key players Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham. Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka all scored in the first 20 minutes to secure the win.
Coach Thomas Tuchel decided not to include Bellingham as he is recovering from injury, while Kane was also out due to a minor problem. England will return to qualifying action next week against Latvia. A win in that match could confirm their place in the 2026 World Cup in North America.
