Pat Cummins has been left out as he continues his recovery from lumbar bone stress ahead of the Ashes. In his absence, Mitchell Marsh will lead the 15-man squad.

Queensland batter Matthew Renshaw has been recalled to the ODI team. The 29-year-old has played 14 Tests but is yet to make his ODI debut. He impressed last season for Queensland, scoring 350 runs at an average of 50. Recently, he also scored 80, 106, and 62 against Sri Lanka A.

Veteran pacers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will lead the bowling attack, joined by Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshuis.

The Indian team will be led by Shubman Gill, who was recently named ODI captain, replacing Rohit Sharma.

Australia’s ODI series will be followed by five T20Is. Alex Carey will miss the first ODI in Perth to play in the Sheffield Shield for South Australia on October 15. He will also skip the T20Is to focus on the Ashes.

Josh Inglis and Nathan Ellis return to the T20 squad after a minor calf injury and attending the birth of his first child, respectively. Glenn Maxwell remains unavailable due to a wrist fracture sustained during the New Zealand tour. Cameron Green will continue preparing for the Test summer with Western Australia after the ODIs.

Chair of Selectors George Bailey said the squad selections aim to balance preparation for the T20 World Cup next year and the upcoming Test series.
